This self issued permit wilderness stretch typically lasts 4-5 days with pool drop rapids, white sand beaches and fun rapids. There are 3 take out points before Heller Bar that you can exit, Pine Bar, American Bar and Eagle Creek. Although we do shuttle all, if you are unfamiliar with these spots please call to discuss as the ramps are primitive and in some cases, 4 wheel drive is necessary on some put ins. There are put ins before you get to Hammer Creek if you want to get additional mileage on the river, and great camp spots as well. You will need Idaho Invasive Species Sticker and if you are going all the way a Discover Pass, all of which you can get as you drop off keys on the way to the put in!

Alternative boat launches near Hammer Creek: 1 mile upstream from Hammer is the White Bird Gravel Pit. It has an awesome ramp and self issue permits as well as a restroom. Camping is not really ideal there, but if you come in late and have a very small party, people have done it, but it not a campsite per se. Why Us?
