If you are lucky enough to get a permit for the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, congrats!  It is considered the ultimate rafting trip in North America.  Steeped with history and beauty, it also has 6 hot springs down this section.  Because of it's technicality, if you are not a skilled rafter or kayaker, it is recommended that you hire a raft company for your trip.  It's been our experience that if the water levels are extremely high or low, or the road is closed due to snow you may want to put in at Indian Creek.  Since it's only accessible by air, you would need to charter an air taxi.  It is not uncommon for us to pick up cars at the McCall Airport and deliver them to Cache Bar.  Please call for rates, and of course any other info.  You can also launch at State Highway 21, float to Marsh Creek where it becomes the Middle Fork. Many kayakers in the pre season will float to Riggins. This shuttle is very affordable as we are 23 miles away.

If you are floating before permit season, please call 208-879-4101 to see if the road is open.

SCAT Machine located con the N. Fork Road.  Look for it on the left approx 20 miles from Cache Bar

Please call for pricing and additional river and road information.

*Please note that the FS will tell you that the road is closed if only a small section of road is covered by snow. Typically, if people want to get through this, a snow plough or shoveling the snow out by outfitters and shuttle people are not uncommon.

The ideal situation is to camp overnight and get your gear ready. The campground is located near the boat launch, but far away that you cannot haul items there easily.
